Holly-Hunter
Holly Hunter is an American actress and producer well recognized for her high-quality performance in films like Broadcast News The Firm The Piano and The Incredibles. Her work has been recognized with numerous awards, including an Oscar for the movie Piano. The accomplished actress started her acting career on the stage by performing in a myriad of Broadway and Off-Broadway projects. She has had a passion for acting ever since when she was in the school. Her first role in a production in fifth grade was as Helen Keller. The mumps that she contracted left her deaf and blind in one ear, but she did not allow this to hinder her ambitions of becoming an actress. As a young woman she took classes in drama at college and moved into New York City from Pittsburgh in order to pursue her ambitions. Hunter met Beth Henley by chance in a lift. Together, they wrote Broadway Crimes of the Heart. The play was Hunter's first acting debut. After that, she made the move to Los Angeles and tried to find films roles. The film, Swing Shift, she landed the role of a back-up. In the three decades since she was a part of the film Holly Hunter has been involved in numerous TV shows and movies. Holly Hunter was awarded a Hollywood Walk of Fame Star and the Women in Film Lucy Award.
